The Manhattan, Jack's Way

So, Jack knows cocktails.  Every gentleman should.  Being a good host and serving stellar libations is a must in this lifetime for us gents.  Poorly executed hootch is simply unforgivable.  With that being said, here is my recipe for the most splendid Manhattan cocktail, which after all is the ultimate gentleman's drink.  Using only the world's finest rye whiskey, Italian vermouth, craft bitters and Maraschino liqueur make this version "Jack's Way".

The Manhattan, Jack's Way

  • 2 oz. Hudson Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz. Carpano Antica Vermouth
  • 1/2 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • 3 heavy dashes of Hella Bitters (from Brooklyn, NY)
  • Luxardo Maraschino cherries or a lemon peel for garnish

Stir all liquid ingredients with crushed ice for 50 stirs (no less), strain into coupe glass (pictured above) and garnish with cherries or lemon peel.  If using lemon peel, squeeze over cocktail before drinking to expose lemon essential oils into whiskey.  It simply doesn't get much better.
